Helen C. Kyrillidis
started Alikos Financial and Insurance Services in July of 2000 after working for 10 years as Vice President of a full service
insurance brokerage where she managed the Life and Health Department and the Bookkeeping Department. She has been in
the insurance industry for over 20 years. She has worked with several of the major insurance companies licensed to do
business in the State of New York including Aetna, Allstate, Bankers Life, CNA, Empire BCBS, First Unum, Guardian Life, Interboro,
John Hancock, Metropolitan Life, Mutual of NY (MONY), NY Central, Travelers, US Life and William Penn Life. Helen is also a registered representative, having
received her Series 6 and Series 63 National Association of Securities-Dealers (NASD) license in 1994 and currently offers
security-based products such as IRAs, SEPs, 401(k)s, Mutual Funds, Variable Life and Variable Annuities through American General
Securities Inc.
From
1994 to 2000, she was a co-lecturer for the Finance Department at NYU’s Stern School of Business and presently does
guest lecturing on occasion. She contributed insurance and risk management articles for the texts written for these courses,
published by McGraw-Hill. She has also lectured around the New York Metropolitan area in both formal and informal settings
on various insurance topics such as life, disability, major medical and long term care insurance and is an Approved New York
State Continuing Education and Life/Health Pre-Licensing Instructor.
She graduated from St. John’s University with a B.A. in Government and Politics and
a minor in Business Management and is currently pursuing her Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation through Molloy
College. Since starting
Alikos Financial and Insurance Services (named after her parents Aliki and Kostas), she has expanded its services to include
small business bookkeeping, business consulting, translating and interpreting. She works closely with bankruptcy, immigration
and estate planning attorneys as well as accountants, and CPAs to better serve her clients and to keep current on events affecting
them and their lives.
In
2002, she opened Station Plaza Tax Preparation with a partner, to provide yet another service to her clients. In a relatively
short time, Station Plaza Tax Prep has established a well earned reputation for preparing reasonably priced individual and
sole proprietorship tax returns as well working with former IRS agents to resolve small and large problem situations with
the IRS and New York state Department of Taxation and Finance. Helen is also currently pursing an IRS Enrolled Agent (EA)
